10 reasons why the Rolls Royce Cullinan is the most expensive SUV in the world
The popularity of the SUVs around the world is forcing even the luxury car makers to enter the segment. The Cullinan from Rolls Royce is the most expensive of them and is priced at around Rs. 2.5 crores in the UK, which translates into a price tag of more than Rs. 5 crores in the Indian market! It is the most expensive production SUV available in the market but what makes it so expensive? Let’s find out!
Extreme attention to detail
The Rolls Royce Cullinan gets extreme attention to the details on the interiors. For example, there are a lot of wooden inserts in the vehicle and the wood has been chosen carefully by inspecting the grain. The rear centre console and the dashboard console only get the V-shaped wooden grain while the grain on the door panels are carefully set at 55-degree angle, making it look exquisite. It does not end here, another example is the leather seats. Rolls Royce carefully chooses the hide from only the bulls to eliminate any chances getting stretch marks from the cows.
Helicopter mode camera
The Cullinan gets a 360 degrees 3D camera that gets night mode too. The camera comes in handy while parking the massive Cullinan in tight parking space. More than that, it is extremely helpful during the off-roads. The camera system can change angles and even gets a helicopter mode that can show the car from the side, above, front and rear! It is like changing the views of a car in a video game.
Acoustically sealed
The Cullinan gets the quietest cabin among any SUVs. It gets over 100 kg of sound deadening material around the vehicle that absorbs any unwanted road noise or sound from other cars on the road. Even the glass of the Cullinan is specially made. The thick 6mm glass gets sound absorbing layer embedded in the middle that ensures that even the glass windshields and windows do not allow any sound to filter to the cabin. You can even hear the clock ticking inside the Rolls Royce, you now know why!
Four-wheel steering system
The Rolls Royce Cullinan is even longer than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class but it is extremely easy to handle because of the 4-wheel steering system. The system ensures that the turning radius reduces by a great deal. At slower speeds, the front and rear axle move in opposite way to minimise the turning radius, while at the higher speeds, both front and the rear wheels move in the same direction that adds stability to the vehicle.
First Rolls Royce that can do off-roading!
It is the first-ever Rolls Royce that can do off-roading and it excels at it. For the first time, Rolls Royce is offering 4WD driving system along with special features that eliminate the need of differential locks to go on the rough terrains without any problem. It also is the smoothest off-roader ever. Putting it in the off-road mode raises the suspension by 40mm and the total suspension travel becomes 120mm. The car also gets the Magic Ride system that involves various features like electronic damping to offer the best ride quality. The Cullinan is capable of 570mm of water wading, which is quite a lot!
Even gets customised tyres
Even the tyres of the Rolls Royce Cullinan are specifically made. The tyres are made to ensure that they produce minimal road noise and less rolling resistance. The dual-purpose tyres are made by Continental and are quite sticky even on the dirt surfaces.
Adaptable floor height
All the seats of the Rolls Royce are electronically controlled and the rear seats can be folded flat by pushing a button. What makes it special is the adjustable floor height that can come up to ensure that the cargo space is flat! Now that is a unique feature and Rolls Royce charges money for such features.
Automatic umbrella dryer
It is not a hidden fact that all the Rolls Royce cars come with umbrella holders hidden in the rear doors. The Cullinan’s umbrella holders are connected to the AC system of the vehicle that makes sure that you do not need to worry about the wet umbrella every time you use it. The holder will dry the wet umbrella by circulating the AC air through it.
Viewing suite!
The Cullinan gets a range of accessories and getting all of them can cost more than the value of the car itself. There is an accessory called the Viewing Suite, which catches our attention. It is an optional feature that adds two retractable seats in the boot along with a centre table. It can be opened electronically to turn the boot into comfortable chairs!
