20 Photos Of Strange Motorcycle Helmets

A big misconception that most people who don’t ride bikes believe is that a helmet will break your neck if you fall off the motorbike. That’s not true. If you think that a helmet is unsafe, try riding without it and face the consequences of a fall. You would wish that you had a helmet for head protection.

The result of our search were helmets that bikers modified to make them look cool but that ended up with an eccentric design. To show the anomaly, we featured motorbike helmets that you won’t see daily. Some of the helmets are funny, while others are eerie.

20 DOUBLE TROUBLE

While some believe that having too much of a good thing is bad, most chocoholics will disagree. The old proverb is pertinent in this case. Riders need only one helmet, as they only have one head. Any additional feature on helmets, in most cases, is superfluous. When this biker modified the helmet, he or she might’ve had a bump protruding from the side of his head. Although the additional headspace makes for an interesting design, it serves little to no purpose. If the biker was adamant on modifying the helmet, he could’ve designed it as a comic character such as The Joker.

19 WIPERS

Considering a car has wipers on the windshield to clear the driver’s view, it makes sense that helmets should have wipers. Although wipers on a helmet aren’t a new invention, the pictured one deviates from the norm. While the wipers on this helmet will help to remove debris, it will also obstruct the rider’s view. The wipers look like a propeller and will distract the rider or put him in a hypnotic state. Either way, the so-called propeller wipers will do more harm than good. Sometimes, sticking to the traditional design of an invention is the best option.

18 GOOFING AROUND

One of the reasons that people buy motorbikes is to feel masculine and show everyone that they’re macho. Riding a bike provides the rider with a certain amount of inherent masculinity. To accentuate their masculinity, riders wear leather waistcoats and tattoo their arms. The one thing that you shouldn’t do if you want to look tough on a motorbike is to wear a helmet such as the one above. It’ll make you look goofy regardless of how many tattoos you have. Children will smile when they see you, and adults will have a good laugh at your expense.

17 THE FEMALE TERMINATOR

The latest designs of helmets have taken on a new look. Female riders are also tired of the conventional design of a helmet and want to showcase their wild side. This helmet lets the female rider show that half of her is a lady while the other half is a beast. We love how the helmet portrays the different personalities; not to mention, the hair color on the helmet matches the rider’s. Drivers on each side of the rider will have a different perception of the rider. Perhaps the female rider harbors both personality types.

16 ARE YOU NUTS?

The traditional helmet look is outdated. Most bikers have grown weary of plain black or white helmets and want to spice up their riding experience. One of the modifications that some bikers and helmet manufacturers have dabbled in is painting. They’ve decided to make helmets more interesting by depicting them as an object. Some of the paintings that manufacturers have used on helmets include a tennis ball, a watermelon, and nuts. To provide the biker as well as other road users with entertainment, the manufacturer of this helmet painted it to look like walnuts.

15 DISCO BALL

Disco balls were popular in the ’80s, when Cindy Lauper and Roxette used to rock the dance floor. These days, disco balls are outdated and used as decorative features at a house party. It seems that some bikers cannot let go of the past. They miss the lights on the dance floor reflected from the disco ball so much that they want to wear a helmet that serves as a constant reminder of the magical time. A helmet that resembles a disco ball may make you nostalgic, but it doesn’t do much for your look. There comes a time when you have to let go of the past.

14 PREDATOR

The 1987 American science-fiction movie Predator was responsible for many children waking up crying due to recurring nightmares. In the movie, Arnold Schwarzenegger has to save hostages in the guerrilla-held territory while an extra-terrestrial life is hunting the team. Watching the Predator on screen was scary enough, but some bikers want to bring the fictional character to life. Thus, they’ve designed a motorbike helmet to resemble the Predator. The resemblance between the helmet and the character is petrifying. That’s one rider that you don’t want pulling up next to you at a traffic light at night.

13 SPOOKY

Anybody who wants a helmet that resembles an alien’s face should buy this one. Apart from fitting only on small heads, this helmet looks spooky. The only thing that would make the experience eerier is if the biker was riding a yellow bike and wearing an outfit to match. Then, you can call Agent Scully to report an extraterrestrial. What also makes this helmet so scary are the bolts located on the alien’s forehead.

12 A MARVEL CHARACTER

It seems that some bikers are determined to look as scary as possible. This biker may have taken the modification of his helmet too far, though. The helmet looks like a character from the Marvel Comics and someone that Iron Man would fight. Although the design of the helmet is unique, we struggle to comprehend how the biker has good visibility. Also, how does he get oxygen into that helmet? If he’s figured those things out and doesn’t mind scaring children seated at the back of cars, then the look may work for him. Otherwise, it might be time for another helmet.

11 ASTRONAUT

Most boys used to wonder what it would feel like to be an astronaut once grown. As toddlers, we used to wear gigantic helmets on our heads and leap around the lounge, pretending to float. Now, that we’re adults, we’ve succumbed to the reality of working a nine to five and have let go of the fantasy of exploring space. Some bikers are still holding onto the dream, though. They’re still pursuing their goal of flying to the moon and reveal it by their choice of helmets. Although the design of this helmet is odd, it provides great road visibility to the biker.

10 TWO FOR ONE

The only way that this helmet could make sense is if the rider wanted to provide a helmet for the passenger. If that were the case, then the passenger would have to sit with his or her back to the rider to get visibility from the helmet. Since that’s unlikely to happen, this rider will have more weight on his head than necessary. To make matters worse, if the rider fell off the bike with this helmet, he makes himself vulnerable to a neck injury. With this design, a neck injury caused by a helmet isn’t surprising.

9 CLOWN

We believe that the movie It was responsible for transforming clowns from light-hearted, funny characters to evil monsters that stalk you at night. While Stephen King’s It novel provided plenty of jittery moments to readers and moviegoers, the nightmare didn’t end there. Some bikers thought that a scary clown would make a great helmet design. Although the clown design looks great on a helmet, it also makes other road users uncomfortable. Considering that bikers have a reputation for being dangerous, wearing this helmet will make other road users believe that you have some bad intentions. No driver will mess with you if you wear this helmet.

8 SKELETOR

Who said that weird wasn’t cool? If you look into the throng of bikers in this picture, there’s one face that stands out from the pack. That’s the main reason that bikers opt for eccentric helmets: to stand out. This biker has managed to do that and gets brownie points for the design that he selected. The one problem that he may face is poor visibility. The visor is two skeleton eyes, which provide less visibility than the standard visor. The biker will have problems with his peripheral vision. Maybe, he won’t need to look out for other road users, as everyone will have his or her eyes on him.

7 TRANSFORMERS

Some people are so obsessed with fictional characters that they design their wardrobe to depict the character. Riders who want to look like Bumblebee from the movie Transformers can get their hands on a helmet that resembles the character. The appealing feature on the helmet is that an antenna pops up from the side of the helmet when the rider wants to check a blind spot. The only downside of the antenna is that it makes the rider look more like a bumblebee. This helmet will also make the rider appear young, as the character in the Transformers movie appeals to young audiences.

6 BEACH BALLS

We commend riders who take all the necessary precautions to ensure that they’re safe while riding. Helmets alone aren’t enough for a rider to fully protect him or herself, so riders should consider wearing padded outfits and leather gloves. Some riders feel that the most important part of their body that needs protection is the head. They disregard the rest of the body and focus on accentuating the protective features for the head. These two riders wanted to ensure that they won’t get a scratch on their heads if they fall off the bike, and they did so by magnifying their helmets. The riders’ helmets are the size of beach balls.

5 GHOST

Bandit is a motorbike helmet manufacturer responsible for producing numerous designs. The brand is popular in the motorcycle community and has produced several eccentric helmets. One of those helmets is the Ghost Limited Edition, according to Vuing. Although the design of the helmet is unique, it provides limited visibility. What’s more worrying are the fangs sticking out at the bottom of the helmet. That looks like a dangerous feature if the rider falls off the bike. The helmet is more likely to make onlookers cringe than scare them away as a ghost would. Fortunately, the traditional helmets that Bandit manufacturers are more appealing.

4 EVIL MONSTER

This helmet gets points for originality as well as for being able to scare the living daylights out of you. We don’t know which road user would like to encounter a rider wearing this helmet, but we’d stay clear. A scary clown helmet is eerie, but this one is on a different level. We  think that the modification was taken to the extreme, and many road users will find it offensive, not to mention frightening. If the modifier of the helmet wants to get the attention of other road users, he’s chosen the right design. Maybe the owner of this helmet wears it only on Halloween. Let’s hope.

3 TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE

The easiest way to confuse road users and the cops is by wearing a helmet that looks like your head. What makes this helmet so fascinating is how realistic the ear and the skin of the head look. Whoever did the paint on this helmet performed a sublime job. To confuse other road users more, the biker grew a beard that matches the facial hair on the helmet. If you saw this rider from a few feet away, you’d be convinced about whether or not he’s wearing a helmet.

2 ALL HANDS ON DECK

You’re in safe hands if you wear this helmet. Riders who insist on only original helmet designs should get their hands on the hands helmet. The amount of safety that this helmet will provide is uncertain, as the design is different from standard helmets. Riders who are prepared to risk wearing a helmet that doesn’t have a visor or a strap but want to be the envy of all bikers users can opt for this one-of-a-kind protective gear.

1 HARDCORE

Bikers who are looking to get their hands on a unique helmet should speak to the gentleman responsible for this helmet. Although the helmet looks unconventional, We have to commend the effort. The helmet is unique. Apart from the goosebumps that the helmet will give to other road users, it can also serve as an interesting decorative feature in the owner’s house. The other use of the helmet is welding. If you want to portray a scary look while welding, this helmet will do the trick. You can also use it as a Halloween costume.
