Mavelikkara: As many as 28 new buses of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) which have completed registration formalities, have been standing idle at the regional workshop here for over a month.

Some of these buses were ready as early as January 2016. The registration of the vehicles was delayed a bit when a new bus body code became effective this January.

However, the registration was completed in March by getting a special permission from the state government.

The buses have to be allocated for various depots which has not been done yet as no directive in this regard was received from the Chief Office, according to the authorities at Mavelikkara Regional Workshop.

KSRTC Executive Director (Technical) M T Sukumaran said that normally, the buses which have completed registration, operate in inter-state route.

He said the KSRTC is unable to roll out these buses due to the delay in getting permit from Karnataka to ply them on inter-state route.

Apart from the Central Workshop in Thiruvananthapuram, KSRTC has regional workshops in Mavelikkar, Aluva, Edappal and Kozhikode.
