Mahindra Thar is one of the most popular SUVs among off-road enthusiasts. The rugged SUV is known for its capabilities and is famous for doing crazy things too. Here are five crazy things that people have done with the Mahindra Thar.
Going up the stairs
The Mahindra Thar can do some serious off-roading but going up a rough terrain that involves stairs is little too much. Seen here is a Mahindra Thar that is doing exactly the same. The Mahindra Thar goes up the steep hike that also involves stairs and completes it without much problem.
Coming down the stairs
Now coming down the stairs is much more challenging as the vehicle tends to skid and is difficult to control. Here is a Mahindra Thar that is coming down the long way of stairs. It shows the vehicle’s departure angle and how well it can handle such steep declines.
Crossing the river
Crossing any river can be dangerous as the surface below cannot be seen. Sunny Sidhu, an accomplished rally driver took a Mahindra Thar straight into a river in the Spiti Valley. The vehicle can be seen going extremely deeper and towards the end, it hits a river bed ditch. The Thar can be seen losing traction and the strong current starting to make the vehicle float away. Sunny Sidhu then uses experience and puts the gear in reverse to take it out of the river successfully! Crazy for sure.
Jumps!
Making a vehicle jump is always dangerous. Upon landing, the vehicle can lose control and end up in accidents. Here are two different Mahindra Thars that have been seen jumping quite a fair bit in the air. Both the Mahindra Thars can be seen going at least 8-10 feet in the air and landing hard on the ground. Both the car drivers have done a commendable job for keeping the vehicles in control.
Customisation!
Mahindra Thar is one of the most modified vehicles in India. Many owners get the Thar modified with off-roading equipment like off-roading bumpers, winch, better tyres and more. However, there are many go the extra step to make sure that their Thar looks like a beast. Here is an example of the Mahindra Thar that has been officially modified by Mahindra. It is called the Wanderlust and was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Similarly, Mahindra offers a range of customisations like the Day Break and others.
With the extreme similarities between the Mahindra Thar and the Jeep Wrangler, many owners do subtle modifications to make it look like the Wrangler. Transforming a Thar to Jeep Wrangler does not need much of an effort and new grille, flared fenders and a hardtop often does the job well.
There are a few who completely transform their Thar into something else. Here is an example of Mahindra Thar transformed into Hummer H2. The modification job was done by SP Customs and it also gets completely revamped interiors.
