As part of its New Year offer, Air India is giving one-way flight tickets in economy class to and from selected cities at starting prices as low as Rs 849. Flyers can book a one-way ticket at discounted price but only on selected routes.
As per the Airlines’ website you can book tickets till 31st December 2016 for the travel, the period shall be between January 15, 2017, to April 30, 2017, under New Year sale. The one-way sale starting from Rs 849 will be available on Chennai-Coimbatore and Bangalore-Hyderabad routes.
Flyers can also book tickets for Bangalore-Chennai at Rs 1,199; Mumbai-Goa Rs 1,499; Mumbai-Bangalore Rs 1,599, and Srinagar-Delhi Rs 1,999. Among other routes, one can also book Goa-Delhi tickets at a price of Rs 2,999 and Goa-Chennai of Rs 2,199.
The airlines’ official website has mentioned clearly that the offer is applicable on one-way journeys in economy class on selected sectors and selected flights within India operated by Air India/Alliance Air. The New Year sale offer “cannot be combined with any other offer and/or promotion and is not applicable on group bookings”, adding that the offer is applicable for direct flights only. The Air India announcement comes at a time when competitor airlines Jet airways also have announced discounts on one-way tickets, starting at Rs 990 on selected flights in economy class. Meanwhile, Jet airways offer validity lasts till 27th December 2016.
Other rival airlines Go Air also offered tickets at Rs 999 as part of promotional offers. This offer validity is until December 31, 2016. In their New Year sale, Air Asia has also offered flight tickets in Rs 917 till January 1, 2017. During New Year flight sales and travel bookings spikes up by 23 per cent. People travel more during this period than regular seasons. According to aviation regulator DGCA, the number of passengers carried by domestic airlines during January to November of this year has surged 23 percent high to 903 lakh.
