Aluva KSRTC road, which is used by passengers from the Railway Station and KSRTC stand, is always under siege by vehicles, especially, the buses that enter and exit the station. The matter has turned worse with an increase in the number of vehicles encroaching upon the road space. Vehicles, right from the heavy to light, can be seen illegally parked along the roadside here. The unevenly parked vehicles create trouble for motorists during peak hours. Some vendors have made matters worse by encroaching upon the footpath along with the road.
“The illegal parking in the area is a major issue and it slows down traffic since the drivers are forced to find space to drive through. This also leads to road rage between drivers,” said Ajeesh Antony, a regular at Aluva KSRTC bus station. The traffic bottleneck causes buses to mis their schedules and this in turn forces the passengers to wait for hours at the bus stand. Illegal parking continues here even after the police imposed fines on the offenders. “We have already noticed the inconvenience caused by illegal parking in the area and are doing our best to put an end to the problem,” said a traffic police officer in charge.
