APSRTC Managing Director N Sambasiva Rao made a surprise inspection of the RTC bus station on Friday. Speaking to the media, he said the RTC would purchase 3,000 new buses soon to expand its services in the State. It was proposed to operate RTC buses from all major towns and villages with good revenue potential.
Steps would also be taken to augment the revenue of RTC bus stations by utilising the available resources in an optimum manner. Focus would also be laid on improvement of passenger amenities at RTC bus stations, he said. The RTC MD said two AC and two non-AC non-stop bus services between Pithapuram and Hyderabad would be introduced within a week.
Kakinada-Hyderabad RTC bus services would run via Pithapuram. A halt would also be provided at Pithapuram for all Vizag-Hyderabad RTC bus services to provide better bus connectivity to the town, he said. When some passengers complained to the MD about lack of basic amenities at the RTC bus station, he said it would be developed within a month.
