Hinduja Group flagship Ashok Leyland has also stepped in with relief materials for affected people in the flood-hit city.
“Ashok Leyland adopted an old-age home, a home for mentally challenged and an orphanage where residents are provided with clothes, towels, sweaters, medicines among other essentials,” the city-based company said in a statement.
Besides, volunteers from Ashok Leyland office in Ennore, and technical centre in Vellivoyal Chavadi provided food and essential commodities, it said.
A 24×7 helpline has also been set up to attend calls with regard to relief works, it added. Chennai and surrounding districts of Tamil Nadu witnessed torrential rains for several days last month, creating havoc in the region.
A total of 347 persons lost their lives since October 1 in the massive deluge, as per state government data.
