Ratan Tata is one of the most well-recognised industrialists, philanthropist and businessman in India. Mr Tata has served for a long time in the Tata brands and is currently the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons and chairman of Tata Trusts. Ratan Tata is an automobile enthusiast and has made numerous trips to various automobile exhibitions around the world to showcase Tata products. But close to home, which vehicle does he likes to live with and drive? Well, here is a list of all the cars owned by Mr Ratan Tata.
Tata Nexon
The made-in-India, designed in India, Tata Nexon is the country’s first and only car to get the Global NCAP’s 5-star rating. Officially, the car’s registration shows the owner as Concorde Motors that is part of the Tata Group itself. Mr Tata has been spotted with the Nexon only a few times. It is the diesel version of the car and is in brilliant blue colour.
Ferrari California
This is one of the favourite cars of Ratan Tata. He has been spotted driving the left-hand-drive set-up California on the streets of Mumbai quite a few times. The California is an extremely popular car that has now been discontinued by the Italian sports car manufacturer. It gets the signature Rosso Red colour. He still owns the Ferrari but is not seen with the vehicle as much as before.
Honda Civic
The last-generation Civic which was launched in India became a major hit among the enthusiasts. However, Honda sold only around 50,000 units of the Civic during its last stint in the country and Ratan Tata bought one of them. It was his daily commuter car and he has been spotted driving the car all by himself often. It speaks volume about his enthusiasm towards cars and how he loved driving around by himself.
Mercedes-Benz 500SL
Mercedes-Benz is a fine convertible that became pretty popular among celebrities around the world when it was first launched. Ratan Tata got one for himself imported to India and it remained in the LHD set-up. He has been spotted driving the 500SL quite a few times on the Marine Drive with the rooftop folded down.
Cadillac XLR
Ratan Tata loves the open-top cars and this is another one from his garage. The Cadillac XLR is an American sports car that has been imported by him privately. The blood-red coloured vehicle has been spotted only a few times in Mumbai.
Mercedes-Benz W124
He also owns a W124 E-Class from the yesteryears. It is the that enthusiasts could talk about and can still talk about till the end of the time. The black-coloured four-door sedan has been kept spotless in his garage. This vehicle seldom comes out to see the sunshine but its immaculate condition tells us about the intensity of love Tata has for his cars.
Land Rover Freelander
Tata Motors own the JLR group now but before that, he used to have a Freelander in his garage and has been spotted multiple times in the SUV. Ratan Tata uses the vehicle to reach events or for official work. It is a black colour Freelander. Surprisingly, there are no Range Rovers in his garage even today!
Chrysler Sebring
While the Chrysler has never been spotted with Ratan Tata ever, he said in an interview said that he also owns the convertible Sebring. It is possible that he owns the vehicle in some other country. In the same interview, he said that he absolutely loves the colour of his Sebring and the first Indica showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in 1998 had the same colour.
Tata Indigo Marina
The Tata Indigo Marina was a station wagon with acres of space in the rear. Tata says that the vehicle has been modified for his dogs but it has never been spotted. The rear seats of the vehicle have been removed to make more play area for his dogs.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class
It is difficult to find a celebrity or a famous businessman who does not own a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or a BMW 7-Series. The uber-luxurious S-Class also found space in his super garage. The luxury saloon is said to be one of his daily driving cars that take him for his regular chores. Tata himself describes the S-Class to be a glider and uses it after sprints in his sports cars.
