Nearly 1 lakh people are expected to participate in the Rail Rokho or Railway bandh programme to be held on Sept 15 by pro Kannada activists.
Kannada Chaluvali Party chief, Vatal Nagraj clarified that he had not called for any state wide bandh, but informed that the rail rokho programme is as per schedule. The rail rokho programme is being organised in protest against the Cauvery and Mahadevi verdicts.
The rail rokho programme is likely to bring the railways in Karnataka to a grinding halt. According to the activists nearly 1 lakh people will take part in the programme and will block trains across the state.
An advisory to avoid train travel both into and outside the state is likely to be issued. The bandh will be observed between 6 am to 6 pm. Activists say that the Centre needs to take note of the plight of the people in Karnataka and hence the rail rokho is being staged.
