Christmas special services help KSRTC; Daily revenue jump to Rs 7 cr

Thiruvananthapuram: Christmas special bus services increased the daily revenue of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to more than Rs 7 crore. There was an average increase of Rs 15.5 crore in revenue during the holidays.

The collection on December 22 was Rs 7.18 crore and on December 23, it was Rs 7.02 crore. The daily revenue of the central depot, where the most number of long distance buses conduct services, rose to Rs 22 lakh from the previous Rs 18 lakh. The number of passengers also increased. The average number of passengers jumped to 25 lakhs. The corporation expects the same earnings on New Year also.

 

Forty special buses conduct service in the other state routes where more number of passengers travel. The online booking to these buses have been completed. KSRTC conduct 100 special services to Bengaluru alone. Tickets worth Rs 30 lakh is sold everyday through online reservation. On Christmas eve, Rs 40 lakh was earned through online booking.

Meanwhile, the private buses followed the trend of increasing the ticket charge in heavy rush season. Ticket charge in Bengaluru-Thiruvananthapuram route on Christmas eve was Rs 4000. On the other hand, KSRTC charged only Rs 1400, even on the basis of flexi rate.
