Extensive arrangements would be made in the holly hillock of Sabarimala in view of the heavy rush for the ‘Makaravilakku’ ritual which falls on January 15, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said . KSRTC will operate about 1,000 special buses. Arrangements would be made to supply drinking water to the devotees at Sannidhanam, Pampa and Nilakkal. Special preparations will be made at major temples and pilgrim centres in the districts of Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Alappuzha.
The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) will expand the operations undertaken as part of the ‘Safe Zone’ project launched to ensure the safety of pilgrims on the Sabarimala route by adding 40 more vehicles to the existing fleet of 20 to conduct patrolling in an area of 350 kilometres during the Makaravilakku season.
