A loco pilot was injured when the engine of the Kannur-Alappuzha Executive Express derailed during shunting near the Kannur Railway Station. The incident happened Tuesday morning at 4.15 am. A coach of the train scheduled to leave at 5 am was also derailed. The loco pilot said the track could not be seen in the heavy rains.
The authorities said rail transportation will not be disrupted as the accident happened during shunting. In the meanwhile, the engine of Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Maveli Express suffered a technical snag at Kannur Station. The train was later halted in the station.
