Fire at 3-storey building in Kottayam, no casualties
In an early morning fire mishap, a 3-storey building near the Kottayam collectorate caught fire and one of the floor was completely razed down in the mishap. The incident happened in the wee hours at about 3 ‘0 clock and the fireforec personnel reached the place and are fighting for over 3 hours to extinguish the fire. Over 10 units of fire engines reached the spot in rescue mission.
Fire was noticed at the Kandathil Residency building comprising a super market, a lodge and a textile shop. The super market at the first floor was completely gutted down in the fire and the textile shop partially destroyed.
Many people were present in the lodge which was on the 3rd floor. There were more people in the lodge due to heavy bookings for the inauguration of a nearby jewellery showroom. Immediately on detecting the smoke, all the inmates were safely evacuated from the building, There are no casualties.
