The flash strike called by the mechanic employees of KSRTC affected passengers, who were stranded in the city as most of the long route services couldn’t be operated due to the strike.
The staff resorted to strike today morning as the officials have decided to do away with the double duty system.
The workers claimed that the management has held no discussions with them regarding the cancellation of the current double duty system.
They alleged that it was a one-sided decision by the management. They have already given letters to the concerned officials including the CMD for the revisal of the decision. But there was no response, they said, adding that it made them to go for a strike today.
Due to the strike, no vehicles have been examined by the mechanic staff since 6 am. This will affect services of long route buses especially the inter-State services of Scania and Volvo. The protesting staff called for going back to the old double duty system.
