A year after the government sought action against irregularities in the execution of a ramp work at KSRTC Venjarammoodu depot, little has been done, according to a press statement issued by a city-based NGO.
Human Rights Protection Forum had earlier filed a petition alleging irregularities to the tune of `11.5 lakhs on the construction of a ramp at the depot. The Technical Wing of Finance Department, after probing into the issue, submitted an enquiry report. “ The officers of civil wing of KSRTC committed serious irregularity in the work by recording inflated size of reinforcements of Kerb of ramp, resulting in loss to the government,” it said.
Following this, a letter from the office of Transport Secretary was sent to the KSRTC Chairman and Managing Director saying that the ‘loss sustained to the government on account of excess payment to the contractor’ be recovered, and action be taken against the responsible officers.
Since there has been no response to the letter, Transport Deputy Secretary has written to KSRTC CMD again to furnish the ‘action taken report by return to Government at the earliest’.
