Ganesh Kumar turns bus driver for KSRTC service inauguration
MLA K B Ganesh Kumar on Sunday surprised the passengers at Pathanapuram KSRTC depot in the role of a bus driver. He inaugurated the superfast bus service in Ernakulam-Guruvayur- Thalassery-Chandanakambara route by taking the wheels of the bus.
“Many services are being cancelled saying that it is not profitable. The public face trouble due to the cancellation of services. The staff who take such decisions should remember that they are working in a company which is established with the taxpayers’ money,” said Ganesh Kumar in his inaugural address.
He pointed out that KSRTC would not overcome the crisis unless the staff desist from the practice of engaging with the trade union of the ruling party to skip duty.
“Many drivers refuse to stop bus if any passenger wants to alight. KSRTC is not operating for profit. The staff is not receiving the salary from the profit. Their salary is from the tax paid by the common man. So, the staff are obliged to treat the passengers well. They should be committed to the public,” said the MLA.
He claimed that when he was the transport minister, KSRTC was a profitable company and that he made it with the cooperation of the staff. Pathanapuram panchayat president H Najeeb Muhammad presided over the ceremony.
