Ranni: A traveller’s paradise, Gavi is all set to get a boost with Forest Minister K Raju issuing a directive to the Forest Department to allow more tourist vehicles to the famed eco-tourism destination.
At present, only 10 vehicles are given a pass to Gavi, which is situated in Pathanamthitta district of the state, during working days. Up to 30 vehicles are allowed during holidays.
This will be increased to 30 in working days and 50 in holidays. It is decided to issue 75 percent of the vehicle passes online. Goodrikkal range officer will arrange the facility soon.
The remaining passes will be issued through Goodrikkal range office then and there.
The decision comes after a team including Seethathode Grama Panchayat president Lekha Suresh and Vice President G Nandakumar led by Raju Abraham MLA submitted a petition to the Minister.
Once the new system comes into place, people who reach Gavi from distant locations do not have to go back without getting a pass.
