Tejas Express is India’s first semi-high speed fully air conditioned train which is capable of running at a maximum speed of 200 KMPH. This is the first time a trains rake capable of running at such high speeds have been produced by the Indian Railways at the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala after the success of the Gatimaan Express whose coaches can run up to a maximum speed of 160 KMPH.
Tejas in Sanskrit means Luster/Glow it also refers to the Golden Rays of the Sun light and hence the trains Color theme is based on Golden Yellow color with a matching Locomotive.
For the first time ever a Express train with automatic closing doors have been installed as a precaution of safety. Thats not it Tejas Express comes with a fleet of Services to keep its travelers thoroughly entertained through out its journey some of them are LED TV for each passenger with phone sockets, local cuisine, celebrity chef menu, WiFi, tea and coffee vending machines, Microwave, Refrigerator, magazines, snack tables.
In addition to these the Coaches have bio-vacuum toilets, water level indicators, tap sensors, hand dryers, integrated braille displays, CCTV cameras, fire & smoke detection and suppression system. The automatic doors are controlled by the Train’s Guard from the Integrated Power car of the train.
India’s fastest capable Train – TEJAS Express

The video is a spotting of Tejas Express during the peak monsoon time and the train is not running at its maximum speed due the limitations of the terrain. Though Tejas Express can run upto 200 KPH Konkan Railways has certified the train to run upto a max speed of 130 KPH only using a Single WDP3A Diesel Locomotive on its entire Single line Diesel section and presently the track conditions are not suitable for running Tejas at such a high speed.
There is some hope that the other two yet to start Tejas Express trains announced by the Railways i.e New Delhi – Chandigarh Tejas Express and Lucknow Junction – Anand Vihar Terminal Tejas Express can run at much higher speeds on the flat North Indian plains under Electric Traction and justify its purpose.
