Jeep Compass receives five star safety rating from EURO NCAP
EURO NCAP recently tested a left-hand drive Jeep Compass and has given the latest SUV from the American carmaker a five-star rating. The SUV scored 90 per cent in the area of adult protection and 83 per cent in the area of child protection.
The top spec 4×4 Limited variant of the Jeep Compass also received a 64 per cent rating for pedestrian protection. The car that EURO NCAP tested was a left-hand drive model and is slightly different from the model of the Compass that is sold in India.
For starters, the left-hand drive Compass gets 8 airbags on the while the right-hand drive variant that is sold in India only gets 6 airbags on the top model. The build quality of the two is however identical and the crumple zones are identical in both models. The left-hand drive variant also gets autonomous braking, something that is not present on the Indian variant of the Compass.
The Jeep Compass will be a big car for FCA India as it is the mass-market vehicle that will rake in the volumes for the American carmaker. Since its launch, it has already garnered 10,000 bookings.
