Over 25 government buses belonging to Tamil Nadu and Kerala were damaged in stone pelting incidents reported in various parts of the district on Sunday after the news about the serial bomb blasts in Patna, near the venue of BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s rally.
A total of 23 Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) buses, 2 Chennai bound State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) buses and a Thiruvananthapuram bound Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus were damaged in stone pelting, said official sources from Transport Department. “Once the news about the serial bomb blasts was flashed in the news channels, the stone pelting incidents began in the district,” said sources from intelligence.
Most of the stone pelting incidents had occurred in places such as Thottiyodu, Chunkankadai, Vadasery, Ozhigunesary, Viswasapuram, Rajakkamangalam and Aasaripallam which are located in the outskirts of the town, they added. Many drivers and conductors were also injured in the incidents and fortunately, no one was grievously injured. “Though, the exact number of drivers and conductors, who were injured not known immediately, we are receiving information from various places,” said official sources from the Transport Department.
