A section of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees have begun their 24-hour strike in state. Workers, affiliated to the CITU, are taking part in the stir.
Reports said that the stir has only partially affected the transport services in the state. Workers with allegiance to other unions are carrying on with their duties as usual. Demands to protect nationalised routes and super class permits, ply new buses and make the KSRTC services efficient, hike daily wages of M-panel staff to Rs 500, remit the share of participatory pension and allot arrears of dearness allowance are being raised by the employees.
The strike was called after talks convened by Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan on October 16 had failed. However, KSRTC MD has ordered to take action against ‘M’ scale employees who do not come to work on Tuesday.
