The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has made elaborate arrangements at Pampa ahead of the Sabarimala season.
As part of the arrangements, 100 buses will be provided for the Pampa-Nilackal route and 70 buses for long distance travel. The majority of the buses will be low-floor ones.
The KSRTC has also deployed more staff at the Pampa station. Apart from the Pampa bus station, the bus stands at Thiruvananthapuram Central, Kottarakara, Punalur, Pathanamthitta, Chengannur, Adoor, Kayamkulam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Erumeli and Kumily will be made special centres.
Control rooms will be opened at Chengannur, Kottayam, Thiruvalla and Ernakulam South railway stations for the pilgrims coming from other states. Buses will ply to Pampa and Erumeli from these railway stations. The KSRTC will also run special services from Pazhavangadi Ganapathy temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottarakkara Ganapathy temple, Kottayam Thirunakkara Temple, Ochira Parabrahma Temple and Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple.
The transport corporation will also run inter-state services to and from Pampa/Erumeli to Coimbatore, Palani, Madurai, Thenkasi, Kanyakumari and Kambam. The Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation will also run services from Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore and Salem to Pampa and Erumeli. The KSRTC will also run a super deluxe service from Bangalore. About 1,200 buses of the Andhra Pradesh Transport Corporation and 1,500 buses of the Karnataka Transport Corporation on contract carriage basis will also be available. Online reservations will also be available for KSRTC buses.
