Sakleshpur is a hill station in the Western Ghats mountain range, in India’s Karnataka state. It’s surrounded by slopes covered with tea, coffee and spice plantations. The 18th-century, star-shaped Manjarabad Fort has sweeping mountain views.

Trails lead to biodiverse Bisle Reserve Forest, home to cobras, deer and birds. To the northeast, Jenukallu Gudda peak offers vistas stretching as far as the Arabian Sea.

The KSRTC also operating Karnataka Sarige buses to Bengaluru via Charmadi Ghat. The closure of Shiradi Ghat and Sampaje Ghat (Mani-Mysuru) has affected the people of Dakshina Kannada in reaching Bengaluru and the other hinterland areas.

The alternative to Shiradi and Sampaje Ghat to connect Bengaluru and the other hinterland areas is Hassan-Mudigere-Kottigehara-Kalasa-Kudremukh-Bajagoli-Karkala route. If one comes from Shivamogga, then the movement of vehicles on Agumbe Ghat is also difficult for normal buses.

The Sakleshpur town lies in the Malnad region on the hills of the biodiversity hotspot, the Western Ghats. It has a temperate climate surrounded with lofty green hills full of coffee, cardamom, pepper and areca plantations. These crops which contribute mainly to the economy of the taluk are grown in the surrounding villages and the entire taluk are brought to Sakleshpur city for sale.

The town lies on the National Highway 75 (NH 75) which connects the port city of Mangalore (128 km), with the capital city Bangalore (224 km) of Karnataka state. The nearest airport is Mangalore International Airport, situated at a distance of 128 km.
