KSRTC MD orders drivers to switch off mobile while driving
The KSRTC MD has issued a memo warning drivers from using mobile phones while driving. From now on, the drivers are asked to keep their mobile phones switched off while driving.
This is following the video of a driver from the Kumily depot repairing his mobile phone while driving has gone viral. The video was recorded by a female passenger. This ultimately resulted in the suspension of the driver who was driving bus number RAK 580 from Kottayam to Kumiliy.
The KSRTC MD has given strict instruction to the employees not to repeat such incidents. He has said that the security of the passengers is a huge responsibility of each of the employees, and that they should maintain complete concentration while driving.
The MD’s notice also states that people who risk the security of the passengers in such manner continuing as drivers in the KSRTC is not acceptable. He has also mentioned that he will not hesitate to remove such drivers for service. He has also given instructions to display the notice in all units.
