KSRTC Pampa-Nilackal chain service at an all-time high

The KSRTC Pampa-Nilackal chain service has recorded an all-time high of 14,668 schedules during the ongoing pilgrimage season till December 14. The figure showed an increase of 1,393 schedules over the corresponding period during the previous pilgrimage season at 13,275, a KSRTC Pampa source said. The revenue collection during the period under review stands at `5.65 crore as against `5.44 crore, an increase of `25 lakh.

Inter-state service to Bengaluru  The KSRTC inter-state service to Bengaluru from Pampa would be launched soon. An adequate number of super deluxe buses to launch the service has already reached the Pampa station. Permits for operating the service would be received from the Karnataka Government, the source said. The KSRTC has already launched inter-state services to important centres in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Palani, Madurai, Theni, Tenkasi and Kanyakumari, the source said.

The KSRTC Pampa station operated a total of 8,807 long-distance schedules till December 13, the source said. Of the long-distance schedules, Chengannur station recorded the largest number of schedules at 2,577, followed by Kottayam 1,172, Thiruvananthapuram 1,109, Ernakulam 1,007, Erumeli 839, Kottarakkara 539 and Kumily 529, the source said. For operating the special schedules, the Pampa station has 199 buses, which include 134 non-A/C JNNURM buses, six A/C KURTC buses, 10 super deluxe buses, eight super fasts and 37 fast passenger buses, the source said.

Phase-II of Mission Green Sabarimala launched

Pathanamthitta: The second phase of Mission Green Sabarimala, the campaign programme for a plastic-free pilgrimage, was launched on Friday. District Collector R Girija inaugurated the programme by handing over cotton carry-bags to pilgrims at the KSRTC bus station here. She also released publicity material, including stickers, on the occasion.

The second phase of the awareness campaign, involving Kudumbashree Mission, Suchitwa Mission, Indian Oil Corporation, Higher Secondary Department and National Service Scheme (NSS), will be widened to other important centres connected with Sabarimala pilgrims. The Indian Oil Corporation will sponsor cotton carry-bags by replacing the plastic bags and the members of Kudumbashree units and NSS volunteers will distribute the bags to pilgrims and hand over the publicity material.  In the first phase, awareness campaigns were based at Laha and Kanamala where Kudumbashree members, higher secondary students and NSS volunteers handed over cotton carry-bags to pilgrims.
