THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hundreds of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation pensioners will take part in the Assembly march on Wednesday under the auspices of KSRTC Pensioners Organisation urging the government to take up the pension distribution.

Congress (S) president Ramachandran Kadannappalli will flag off the march at Pulimood Junction. Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan will inaugurate the march in front of the Assembly at 10.30 am.

“The government has taken a stand that pension will be distributed only if the pensioners went for protest and also distribute pension in instalments. The only solution for the current situation is taking up of more than 3,800 pensioners by the government. If the demand was not accepted the pensioners will be forced to go ahead with its earlier decision of indefinite fast in front of the Transport Bhavan.

“The revenue of the KSRTC has been flowing to the state exchequer and RTC is bearing all expenses to take up the responsibilities entrusted by the govt. The norm during the formation that it should be taken up the government, if not functioning profitably, has not been followed,” Organisation general secretary P A Mohammed Ashraff said.
