The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation on Friday submitted before the Kerala High Court that it would start services on all super class routes as and when permits issued to private buses on these routes expired.
According to KSRTC, there are 241 Super Class Services and of these 143 permits are set to expire on January 31, 2015, and the KSRTC has taken steps to operate services on the routes. Since the Corporation is having sufficient vehicles, applications for the permit had already been filed, the KSRTC submitted.
The KSRTC filed the affidavit in response to a petition against the revival package. As per the revival package, the KSRTC decided to reschedule non-profitable schedules and also for nationalisation of routes and increase the fast passenger, superfast and Super express services. The KSRTC also has plans to increase the long-distance services.
The KSRTC further submitted that it is all set to purchase 1900 new buses out of which 400 come under the JNNURM scheme. The tender process in respect of 1,350 bus chasis has been completed and purchase order issued to Ashok Leyland.
That apart the corporation decided to purchase 150 air suspension chasis and tender proceedings are in progress for this.
The KSRTC is ready to operate any number of long-distance services as per the traffic demand in the state, it submitted.
