Rajadhani, is among one of the many names doing the rounds for the proposed ring road service of the KSRTC for the city, aimed at linking rural areas of the district to the city.
KSRTC managing director K.G. Mohanlal told this newspaper that the KSRTC has not yet decided on the name for the service. The official announ-cement of the service would be made sometime next week, he said.
Sources said the ring road service will be launched in the district as a pilot project and soon extended to places like Kottayam, Thrissur and Malappuram.
The buses used for the service will have designer body with colourful exteriors, sources said.
Sources added that six bodies for buses for the proposed bus service were already under construction in workshops at Pappanamcode and Edappal.
A total of 10 buses will be pressed into service in the first phase in the city and later increased to 30 buses, sources said.
The circular service would start functioning by linking a couple of bus depots with the project.
The cost for the starting the service will be met from the budget allocation of KSRTC of Rs 56 crore, sources said.
