Bus services from the Kerala to Tamil Nadu are likely to remain suspended on Tuesday as well in light of the tense situation in the neighbouring State over the health of their Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa.

151 bus services to various parts of Tamil Nadu were shortened at the border depots on Monday. All services of KSRTC to and from Bangalore via Salem have been rerouted through Mysore.

The services were suspended on Monday morning.  Officials said they would monitor the situation in Tamil Nadu before taking a call on resumption of services. The suspension of services left many people stranded in Tamil Nadu on Monday.

“The KSRTC truncated the services at the state borders after receiving advise from police. We gave instruction to the depots there to continue the service only after getting support from police,” said KSRTC Executive Director (Operations) P M Sharaf Muhammed.

Meanwhile, train services between the two States are likely to operate normally on Tuesday, though South Western Railway has made a few minor changes owing to other operational reasons.
