The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) management has suspended an employee for allegedly defaming chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan through the social media.

S Roy, a conductor with the Kattakada depot of the corporation, was suspended from the service on Tuesday by managing director M G Rajamanickam for making derogatory comments against the chief minister on whats app on December 15, after the corporation failed to disburse the salary of the employees.

On the basis of a complaint, the Kattakada police had registered an FIR against him two days after the post. The KSRTC management, meanwhile, had launched an internal inquiry into the matter, and the corporation’s vigilance had prepared its report and forwarded it to the managing director saying that the action of the employee was against the existing rules and laws of the corporation and against the code of conduct for a public servant.

“Being an employee of the KSRTC, having social obligation to be loyal and disciplined public servant, his action has to be considered as a grievous offence against the corporation and the government,” the suspension order said. He has been suspended from the service, pending further inquiry .
