In order to bail the Rajasthan State Roadways Transport Corporation (RSRTC) out of the financial crisis, the management is all set to start an innovative incentive scheme for the bus drivers and conductors at 52 depots across the state from January 1 onwards. The scheme would be applicable at the depots and bus routes where revenue is less than 75%.

To plug the chances of revenue leakage, the corporation with the scheme titled “Meri Bus Mera Route” will give a certain target of revenue to be earned from a bus on a particular route and if the employees concerned will meet the targets, they will be given financial benefits along with the salary.

“It is seen that a bus on its way to Delhi can get which can get revenue of Rs 30,000 after deducting the expenses varying from toll to fuel finally gets Rs 20,000 or less. When our managers studied, it was found that in some of the cases bus conductors were into the malpractice of not giving the travel ticket to the passengers and used to keep that money with them. We have to plug the leakage and this would be done through the scheme “Meri Bus Mera Route”,” said a senior officer of RSRTC.
Elaborating more on the scheme, Sudhir Bhati, chief manager (public relations), said, ” A committee of four officers at every depot will give achievable and practical target to the bus conductor on a particular route. If he is able to generate that much of revenue as targeted he would be given financial incentives through this scheme.”

“The incentives will encourage and motivate the bus conductors to increase the passenger load in the bus he is on duty and will also urge him to be well-behaved. Likewise, the bus conductors who will achieve these targets would be given the routes for duty on their choices,” Bhati added.
