MG Hector & Harrier have highest wait times : Car Market Updates
SUVs have become the most preferred as well as a popular segment for car buyers in India since some time now. Various auto manufacturers have also sensed the same and hence the market is flooded with a ton of SUVs to choose from. Among them, relatively new SUVs like the MG Hector and the Tata Harrier are in most demand due to the features they offer along with their attractive design among other reasons.
According to a report by CarDekho, the MG Hector has the long waiting period this month followed by others like the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500 and Jeep Compass among others. The table below shows the waiting period of several SUVs along with the waiting periods in different cities.

As already mentioned, the MG Hector is having the highest waiting period in August, which was the case last month too. Note that these are not exactly waiting periods and suggest an approximate timeline.
The actual waiting period may vary depending on the variant, powertrain and colour among other factors. Coming to the Hector, it has a minimum of 6 months waiting that extends up to a maximum of 8 months in Surat.
Cities like Lucknow, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Kolkata among others have waiting periods between 6 to 7 months.
Next up is the Harrier, the waiting period of this mid-size SUV by range from no waiting to three months. Cities like Patna, Faridabad, Indore and Ghaziabad have no waiting period at all while others like Mumbai and Delhi have waiting times of 2 and 3 months respectively.
The Hexa, on the other hand, is readily available across the country. Cities like Patna, Faridabad, Indore and Ghaziabad, Pune and Lucknow among others have no waiting periods for the Hexa. For the rest of them, the waiting period ranges from 2 weeks to a month.
The Jeep Compass & Compass Trailhawk are still seeing decent demands and hence the waiting periods on the SUV are not very low. Buyers in Chennai will have to wait for 3 weeks before getting their hands on the Compass while it is readily available in cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune and Surat.
Next comes the Mahindra XUV500 that has an average wait time of 2 to 3 weeks while the longest wait time is 1 month for buyers in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Coimbatore. Lastly, the Hyundai Tucson is availble almost instantly in several cities like Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh and Indore. The longest wait for a new Tucson is 2 months for Hyderabad.
