MG Motor announces Rs 2 crore contribution

MG Motor India today announced that it will contribute Rs 2 crore to the government hospitals and health institutions providing medical assistance in Gurugram (Haryana) and Halol (Gujarat), amid the coronavirus outbreak. The automobile manufacturer has its corporate headquarters in Gurugram and manufacturing facility in Halol.

“In this hour of crisis, we stand with the Government of India to fight and overcome the spread of the pandemic of Covid-19. We understand that in this effort, the Government of India would need huge resources,” MG Motor India said in a statement.

While MG Motor India will directly contribute Rs 1 crore, its employees have pledged to donate the remaining amount of Rs 1 crore.

“The contribution includes gloves, masks, ventilators, medicines, beds, etc, depending on the particular requirement of the specific government hospitals and health institutions providing medical assistance in Gurugram and Halol,” MG Motor India said.

MG Motor India has temporarily suspended operations at its Halol manufacturing facility to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

Further, the carmaker is advising its dealers to ensure enhanced insurance cover for their 5000 employees at dealerships across the country.

The development comes with an aim to ensure the health and well-being of the medical staff and underprivileged sections of society.

Coronavirus patient cases in India have reached as high as 562, so far.
