The Nag Tibba trek is a delight for beginners. It is a perfect weekend trek that is not too exhausting yet satisfies the fire and the hunger for exploration. The Nag Tibba peak stands at a height of 9,915 ft. It is the highest peak in the Nag Tibba range of Garhwal Himalayas.
Trail of this trek is phenomenal and the campsites are simply the prettiest. You walk through forests of Deodar trees. The flora and fauna on this trail are unmatched. The diversity will baffle you. The ascent and the descent of this trek are equally beautiful. There will not be a moment on this trek when you won’t be mesmerized by the fine work of nature around you.
Once you reach Dehradun, your journey towards a magical land will begin. Start early in the morning around 7 am and board a bus from Dehradun to Pantwari. This 4-hour drive will take you to your destination via Mussorie. The famous Kempty falls and the Yamuna bridge can be seen on the way. If you are lucky, you might get a chance to stop at the Kempty falls for a while and enjoy the sound of water hitting the rocks. After 3 – 4 hours you will reach the Pantwari village. You can grab some breakfast and prepare for the trek here.
From Pantwari, you start your first hike towards the campsite where you will be spending the night. This part of the hike takes you across many roads and you finally reach the campsite in a couple of hours. By the time you set up your tents, it will be 5 pm. You can walk around the campsite and let the mountains cast their spell. After a fun-filled evening, you must rest for the night because the next day is when you are going to do most of the walking.
You must wake up early the next morning, because missing the sunrise when you are camping is not an option. You will witness one of the most stunning sunrises ever. After having some breakfast you start your traverse uphill. The Nag Mandir will be the landmark for the day. You will start your trek from here and end it here too. You will walk through forests having tall Deodar trees. There will be many stops for photography along the way, as you will not be able to resist the urge of capturing the views all around you.
After a couple of hours, you will reach your destination. The Nag Tibba summit. Huge peaks will tower over your head and the rest of the world will be below you. The Nag Tibba peak, Bandarpoonch peak, Gangotri peak, Kedarnath peak, Doon valley, Changabang peak will all be clearly seen from here. You can spend some time here and let the feeling of triumph sink in. After an aggressive photography session, you can head back towards your campsite.
This will be the last night at the camp. The next morning you will start your journey towards the Auntar village. It will be an easy descent. And within 4 – 5 hours you will find yourselves boarding a bus back to Dehradun. This journey is particularly gloomy as detaching yourselves from the mountains is never an easy task. The bus will take you to Dehradun by 8 pm or 9 pm.
Your hearts will be overjoyed and overwhelmed at the same time. The mountains have successfully done their job yet again. Another fan earned, another admirer gained. Even before you reach home you will find yourself hunting the web pages of various websites for another thrilling trek.
