The passengers travelling in the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) buses at a few selected routes would be under CCTV surveillance to keep a watch on any suspicious activity and to provide safety to the women passengers. The corporation now has Scania buses which would be flagged off by chief minister Vasundhara Raje and minister of state for transport Babulal Verma on January 15.

According to the sources, these buses are equipped with CCTV camera and global positioning system (GPS).
“We have got 10 such buses manufactured by Scania, a Sweden-based company . On the inaugural day , five of these buses would be flagged off from Bikaner House, New Delhi, to Jaipur and five would be flagged off from Jaipur to New Delhi by chief minister Vasundhara Raje and minister of state for transport Babulal Verma, respective ly,” said Sudhir Bhati, chief manager (public relations) on Wednesday . Asked how the CCTV footages would be monitored, he said, ” A control room would be set up at the RSRTC headquarters and such is the technology that after every 15 minutes the recorded CCTV footage would be sent to the headquarters”.
This will enable us to provide safety to the passengers including women and also to check if the bus conductors or drivers are misbehaving with passengers. “After the inaugural day , some of these buses would be plying on the Jaipur-Delhi route and some on other routes within the state,” said a senior officer of RSRTC. The CCTV surveillance will also stop the leakage of money by the bus conductors. “When our bus is CCTVenabled, the bus conductor will have to book the tickets of every single passenger unlike the usual practice when they allow passengers to travel in buses without ticket,” said an officer.
