The KSRTC special bus service that left to Chennai from Alappuzha on Dec 6th Sunday with the relief materials returned with 40 flood-affected Malayalees on Tuesday morning. The special service was conducted on the request of Shefeek Ibrahim, a conductor at the Edathua depot who accorded sanction from the KSRTC MD Antony Chacko, Alappuzha MP K C Venugopal and KSRTC top officials here for operating the service from Alappuzha for extending a helping hand to the flood affected in Based on his request, the KSRTC MD and other top officials here have decided to run a bus from Alappuzha to Chennai on Sunday evening. The bus with two conductors and two drivers reached Chennai on Tuesday at 9.30am at Koyambedu bus station. Members of KSRTC blog from Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Thrissur arranged the relief materials to be taken to Chennai. “I think I only did my duty running the trip and do not expect any remuneration for the service. We provided food and water to all the passengers free of cost. We also distributed the relief materials to the flood affected people of Chennai. It was a horrible scene to see people begging for food and water. Majority of the passengers also shared a terrible experience with us,” said Shefeek. The bus which returned back at Alappuzha bus station at 6am on Tuesday provided free journey to Malayalees from various districts such as Thrissur, Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Kollam and Pathanamthitta.
