As per a survey on cleanliness standards conducted under the ‘Swachch Rail-Swachch Bharat Abhiyan,’ Palakkad Junction finds the top slot among the major railway stations in the state. The survey report was made on the basis of passengers’ feedback.
The survey was mainly aimed at measuring passengers satisfaction. It covered 407 major railway stations across the country. There were 75 A1 category stations and 332 A category stations. Feedback was also gathered from railway officials at each station who were part of the Service Improvement Group (SIG) and licensed porters and vendors on the station premises.
Palakkad Junction, with a score of 670, is ranked first in the state and the all India rank is 41. Ernakulam Junction bagged the second place in the state with a score of 638.
The all India ranking of the station is 60. The third place with a score of 632 is for Shoranur Junction. Its all India ranking is 69.
The fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh positions in the state were grabbed by Kottayam, Kasaragod, Kozhikode and Kollam stations respectively. Thrissur, with a score of 461, and Tirur, with a score of 459, were in the last two positions.
The survey was commissioned by the Environment and Housekeeping Management Directorate of the Railway Board and conducted by the Indian Railways and Tourism Corporation through M/s Tns India Private limited.
