A weekly flight Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) which connects India and Pakistan will suspend its service from May 11. The Pakistan International Airlines has three flights in a week.
He added that PIA is considering the move and is yet to take a final decision. He further said that PIA will still be flying from Lahore to New Delhi and we will provide connectivity of Delhi flights to Karachi. It also said that the airline will continue to operate on the Islamabad-Delhi flight.
Dismissing media reports that operations are being suspended due to tense relations between India and Pakistan, the spokesperson asserted that the reasons behind the move are “purely commercial”.
As per sources, the government carrier of Pakistan had informed the relevant authorities about the non-operation of service on May 4.
PIA engineering is now performing all major overhaul checks of Pakistan Navy’s entire ATR fleet.
“Recent flights have had low passenger count and it is becoming an additional burden on the airlines which is already facing a financial crisis”, he said. This comes amid mounting cross-border tension between the two countries.
