Pics Of Old Car Parts That Found New Life
These are the kind of ideas that can make anyone the talk of the town, and some even catch the eye of the media, as well. And as long as someone has an idea, an old car, and someone on hand with a metal cutter, these aren’t impossible projects to undertake… So pick a car, find a favorite, and get designing!
10. A MOBILE BAR THAT GOES ANYWHERE
Volkswagen Camper Vans were the legends in the sixties. They ferried surfers, music gangs, and drink-guzzling campers all through towns, cities, states, and countries. With a healthy production run spanning decades, they literally kissed the roads of every country on the Planet Earth. In a rather unique renewal, this van has been turned into a bar counter. Leaving the driving cabin of the van intact, the passenger cabin is sliced off to fit a tabletop or bar top. With some attractive graffiti on the van and an inviting selection, it will be a treat for the VW Camper fans and the average partygoer alike.
9. THE BEL AIR LIFE OF A CHEVY
The best way to add glamor to your room interiors is to have a sofa made out of your own good-looking, and rather grandiose, 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air. You just need the rear end of the car, where in this case, the trunk of the car has been removed to make way for a sofa. According to Thrillist, the car’s gorgeous characteristic wings on both sides make for amazing armrests, and rather statement ones, at that. You can’t drive this transformed Chevy anymore but you can certainly sit and relax on your prized possession.
8. ONE CREATIVE—IF MINI—DESK
My desk is made out of my treasured Mini. Amazing, isn’t it? That’s how you feel when you transform your old and forlorn Mini Cooper into something workable. You don’t need to use a saw on your beloved car. According to Sortra, just remove the top half, seats, and steering column to create space for the desk or a table top. Plus, after emptying the paraphernalia under the hood there is ample space for storing office stuff, too. You’ll finally have a work desk that you love to work at every day.
7. THE FISH ARE SAFE FROM THE FALCON
This is a rather unique way of using your old and worn-out Ford Falcon, particularly if your car is not roadworthy and you still want to keep it because of all the fond memories attached to it. One such owner turned the hood of his car into an aquarium that has been mounted on iron legs. A very characteristic hood, indeed, as its blue color gelled exquisitely with its new concept. Aquarium glass replaces the front grille while the headlamps are replaced by glass panes. The chrome bumper and fog lights can be retained, as well, for that authentic vibe.
6. MANMADE WATERFALL WITH CAR NOSE
Even a decaying car can be given a new breath of life. The truck in the picture was a victim of a fire incident and was left in a state beyond repair. However, it looks pretty much at home now, having been parked at the border of a little pool of water that also houses a manmade waterfall. The water tumbles down from the hood of the truck to create a magical mist as it falls. It creates greenery around the grove and proves that the rust every car owner fears can, indeed, look beautiful.
5. A SHELL OF A CAR? TUMBLE IT UP!
If you are love-struck with your old out-of-a-job car and cannot stand the thought of the junkyard guys crushing the soul out of it, the design in this picture may fit your bill. You just need to remove the tires and heavy mechanical components so that the basic body of the car is left intact. Next, get rid of the rust on the car. Fortify the panes and windshield to avoid any risk of cracks. Finally, swing the car upside down and tether it (securely) to the ceiling for a comfy little swing that no one can resist.
4. WHEN YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A ROVER
The Land Rover is one of the most reliable car brands in the world. And once a Landie has lived out its life on the roads, it can work even harder parked as a desk in your office. The Rover never came cheap and it’s never an emotionally easy task to give one away, even when it has stopped being roadworthy. One such owner used the hood, bumper, and front grille of his Rover to craft an office desk for himself. He kept the headlamps of the iconic car so that his creation looked authentic and add some mood lighting when in need.
3. SLEEP IN A TRUCK BED
The owner of an old and jobless GMC truck turned his vehicle into an awesome-looking bed that anyone would like to sleep in. It looks like as if the truck is parked in the bedroom of his house. The original pickup was decimated enough so that an old queen-size bed structure could be attached, with the headboard made out of the refashioned hood. Finally, a spring mattress was laid onto the frame. Last but not least, the car was moved to his bedroom from his garage—or did the garage turn into the bedroom?
2. TAKING A CAR BED TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Well, this one can probably be counted as one of the more expensive beds of all time. A Mercedes-Benz bed looks gorgeous and expensive, and may as well make for sweet snoozes. Unlike zillions of unexciting beds, this boasts of Mercedes lineage and just looks lavish. The nifty designer fixed the front of his (surprisingly clean) Mercedes to the footrest of the bed. And, the hood of the car has been emptied to accommodate bedding stuff. This old Mercedes now wears a brand new avatar and is ready to help usher in some sweet dreams.
1 CHICKEN COOP COP CAR
According to Audubon, this unusual chicken coop cop car was the creation of famous French artist called Benedetto Bufalino. He turned a 1970s French cop car into a chicken coop because cops are colloquially referred to in France as “poulets.” A few interior essentials like the steering wheel and clutch were kept intact, while the other elements were removed from the insides of the car. It was then fixed with wooden flooring and enclosed in chicken wire to make it a functional coop complete with real-life chickens clucking away happily.
