The much-awaited Punalur-Palakkad Palaruvi Express train will begin its service on April 19. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the new service through video conferencing at 2.30pm at Punalur. Kodikkunnil Suresh MP and N.K. Premachandran MP will also present on the occasion.
The train will provide much relief to hundreds of passengers who are struggling to reach offices on time due to the regular late running of Venad Express. On the inaugural day, the service will be limited only upto Ernakulam.
The train (16791), which starts from Punalur at 3.25am, will reach Kollam at 4.40am, Ernakulam North (9.35am) and Palakkad (1.20pm). In return, the train (16792), which starts from Palakkad at 4pm, will reach Ernakulam at 7.05pm, Kollam (11.25pm) and Punalur (1.20am). the train will have stops at Avaneeswaram, Kottarakkara, Ezhukon, Kundara, Perinad, Munroe Thuruthu, Sasthamkotta, Oachira, Kayamkulam, Mavelikkara, Cheriyanad, Chenganoor, Thiruvalla, Changanassery, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrissur, Ottappalam and Palakkad.
Kodikkunnil Suresh MP informed that in the beginning, there will be only 11 coaches and it will be increased according to the rush in the train. The new train was announced two months ago but it was delayed due to several reasons. The train will also be a huge relief for daily passengers who return from Palakkad to Ernakulam side.
The Palaruvi express will travel till Ernakulam only on the inaugural day. The service till Palakkad will start from 20th.
