Kerala State Road Transport Corporation has withdrawn the decision to re-appoint retired officers, following the protest from the employees. The employees raised their protest in the KSRTC director board meeting, which was held the other day for giving approval for the controversial appointments.
Mangalam news paper had earlier reported about the decision of the KSRTC officials to re-appoint retired Chief Accounts officer and DTO. It is following this that the employees reached the Thycaud Guest House.
The protest has been led by KSRTC CEA and INTUC. Police blocked the protesters while they tried to storm into the guest house.
The re-appointment of pensioners was earlier included in the agenda of the Corporation Board meeting, which was held in June. But the decision was withdrawn following the opposition from a faction in the board. On the next day KSRTC MD issued an order re-appointing the special officer, without the knowledge of the board members.
Allegations were that the appointment has been made as per the direction of a top official in the KSRTC.
