Remote villages of WG get bus service after 70 years of Independence

After 70 years of Independence, two villages located on the fringes of Western Ghats have got KSRTC bus services from Thursday. Aluvalli and Kadagaravalli are the villages which have been connected by the bus route.

A festive atmosphere prevailed at the village with the residents decorating the premises with buntings. A large number of people had gathered to welcome the bus.

They even performed arathi, puja to the bus and celebrated the event by bursting crackers and distributed sweets. MLA H K Kumaraswamy was present to be a part of the memorable moment.

The total population of these two villages is around 400 and is situated approximately 17 km from the town. These two villages had been neglected from the beginning and had got a power supply just a decade ago.

As there were no proper roads, the bus services remained a distant dream for the residents. Till now, the villagers had to walk five kilometres up to Maranahalli to catch the bus. With a concrete road laid recently, MLA H K Kumaraswamy and ZP members held a discussion with the KSRTC officials and were successful in getting bus service to their villages.
