Love can vanish distances, for hearts can sail across seas to claim it. So is the story of Lijo and Santa. Deaf and dumb by birth, these lovers have shown that love can sail seas, all the way from Romania and London to Chengannur.
After 4 years of love that kept them hooked to each other on messenger and skype, they decided to start a life together at the Pandanad Parish Hall where Lijo belongs. Lijo Thomas and Santa Violet from Romania got married in a ceremony that was explained in sign language to them by Lijo’s friend Ancy.
Lijo’s parents, Thomas and Lisy from Pandanad Thuruthikkad House and Santa’s friend Rose, her colleague in the hotel management sector in London, were present for the ceremony. Lijo’s friends and classmates, 50 of them, from the Deaf and Dumb School at Thirumoolamangalam were also present for the function.
Santa’s parents had to skip the function following complications in their passports. Lijo is employed with a private bank at Karunagapally. The couple is preparing to go to Romania soon.
