Soon, travelling in groups to airport in AC buses to reduce burden on pockets
BENGALURU: Nearly a month after Express carried a report ‘Vayu Vajra buses lose out to cabs over high fares’, BMTC has decided to come up with discounts for those travelling in groups to the airport.
BMTC Managing Director told reporters that they are working on a proposal to provide promotional offers to those using airport services in a group. However, she did not divulge details on the number of individuals required for group booking and also the percentage of discount.
KSRTC is already providing a 5 per cent discount on the fares in special buses if four or more passengers book seats in a single ticket. Sources say BMTC is likely to introduce the same scheme for those travelling in Vayu Vajras.
Express report dated March 24 had said that taking a BMTC AC bus from the airport to Electronics City for a three-member family would cost `300 per ticket while a cab ride costs around `800.
The BMTC is considering to introduce ‘happy hours’ when flexible tariff will be charged in AC buses during non-peak hours.
