Private and KSRTC buses entering the Vyttila mobility hub at high speed have become a threat to the pedestrians and passengers. Eyewitnesses reminded that chances of a major accident in the region are high as the buses refuse to slow down while entering the bus terminus. .The maximum speed limit for entering the terminal is five kilometre per hour.

Alias Jose, a taxi driver stationed near the hub, said that the speeding buses have become a threat to the pedestrians. “With enforcement agencies keeping a blind eye, theses buses are having a free run,” he said. A civil police personnel posted at the aid post at the hub confirmed that the buses are speeding at dangerous levels.“Even though we had fined a few buses, many still continue to be negligent and careless while entering the hub in high speed,” she said.

Passengers blamed the Kochi Corporation and hub authorities for not installing a speed-breaker to check the speeding buses. Motor Vehicles Department officials said that they will initiate action against buses violating the norms. “We will step up surveillance in the region soon,” they said.
