Striking MSRTC staff throw stones at KSRTC bus
Striking employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation threw stones at a NWKRTC bus at Kagal on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border on Tuesday morning, as they were upset at the KSRTC bus providing services while they were protesting.
Two passengers who were injured were treated in Kagal. They later received treatment at the Nippani taluk hospital in the State, NWKRTC officers of the Belagavi division said.
Over one lakh MSRTC employees are taking part in the strike bringing public transport in the neighbouring State to a halt. They have been demanding implementation of the new Pay Commission recommendations and an interim hike of 25 % till the new wage structure is implemented.
MSRTC is among the biggest State transport undertakings in the country that ferries around 65 lakh passengers every day on 18,000 buses. However, it has been making an average of Rs. 450 crore losses every year for the past few years.
