A Tata Nano, hand-painted by artist Bose Krishnamachari at 2013 Kochi-Muziris Biennale. “We had chosen the Nano because it is the common man’s car,” Krishnamachari said.
The Mumbai-based artist painted the car in four days. “I have used automotive paint. That will ensure the longevity of the work. We have got it laminated as well,” adds Krishnamachari, who is also the president of KBF.
The vehicle, which bears the signature of megastar Mohanlal and was donated to the Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) by Coffee Beanz of this city and La Gallery 360 of Thiruvananthapuram last month, bears Krishnamachari’s artwork titled under his famed series Stretched Bodies.
Post the biennale, the car was on display at the Lulu Mall here. The money raised at the auction went towards orgnaisational expenses for the next edition of the Biennale.
The ‘art car’ project, which is being organised by the Blue Mermaid Event under the name ‘For the Love of Arts’, was a major point of attraction at the country’s first biennale that lasted 96 days from 12/12/12.
