Bangalore: Now reach Jodhpur from Bengaluru in 36 hours comfortably by bus. VRL Logistics, a leading private operator committed to reduce travel time and increase comfort for its commuters by introducing the latest high end models of Volvo buses.
It signed a consignment for 51 Volvo multi-axle buses at Rs60 crores, on Friday. Prabhu Salageri, vice president (travel), VRL Logistics said, “We studied that about 10 lakh people from Gujarat and natives of Rajasthan travel to and fro Bengaluru frequently by buses. That is why we started this route three years ago and used Volvo buses only. These buses only can make it possible but now we want to go for better models that will enhance comfort and make it viable for us to run the longest distances.”
The route will touch Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad too. He added that the route has been a hit because a major segment of people from Gujarat and Rajasthan do not get railway tickets and cannot afford to travel by air through Delhi or Mumbai and there are very few flights to Jaipur directly. The adult ticket is priced at Rs 2,800.
This is considered to be a good news in the bus industry as the private operators were haunted by RTOs for not abiding by safety norms. Also the series of accidents involving Volvo buses in 2013, raised security concerns and operators turned cold feet.
