Volvo Buses India recently announced the induction of 80 Volvo 8400 buses in Hyderabad, making it the first company to deliver buses under the Urban Bus Specification (UBS) II scheme. Volvo said the city had only eight Volvo city buses plying so far, making this delivery a significant one for passengers to experience the safety and comfort of the buses.
Volvo Buses has delivered almost 1,300 buses across 16 cities in India, with more to be added soon, the company said. It claimed that the objective of the company is to make public transport more appealing, and to draw citizens away from their personal vehicles. The new Volvo 8400 city bus is said to have been built to meet current Urban Bus Specifications, with a host of features to enhance the standard of passenger safety, convenience and comfort.
Volvo Buses has delivered its city buses to cities across the country, including Puducherry, Solapur, Kolkata, Navi Mumbai and Thane. It has also received first-time orders from Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Transport, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Transport and Assam State Transport Corporation for its city buses, the company noted. Additionally, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation has placed repeat orders to procure Volvo city buses.
